Bringing the highest international standards of construction technology

At Sunbird, we use the latest build technologies to meet East Africa's toughest challenges and bring the highest international standards to the market.

With all of our construction projects, we choose build technologies on the basis of a variety of factors, including permanency, aesthetics, purpose and speed of construction, that are all dependent on our client's requirements. Not only are our build technologies better than traditional solutions, they enable our clients to save and time and money by constructing large parts of their developments offsite in our fabrication facilities, then transporting them to the site for assembly and delivery.

Panel Systems

We are proud to say that we are the first to bring the Structured Insulated Panel (SIP) system to East Africa, with our Light Gauge Steel and SIP factory in Nairobi, Kenya. The SIP system has several benefits. It's quick and easy to construct; It offers the robustness and permanency of a traditional blockwork structure; and its high energy-efficiency that is superior in quality to traditional blockwork and the surface can be with any finish. SIPs are ideal for any type of residential, commercial or industrial building and have proven to be particularly useful when building in remote areas.

Hot-Rolled and Light Gauge Steel (LGS)

This system is a good choice when a high quality, permanent structure is needed quickly. We produce our own structures in our facilities in Kenya and Mozambique. We can engineer steel products for residential, commercial and industrial buildings up to 35 metres wide and 8 storeys high. A simple construction technology in build and in assembly, it can be shaped, clad and insulated onsite, and 88% of the steel is recycled, making it eligible for LEED certification. We can also combine LGS with other materials, such as blockwork, so development projects can benefit from a fast, modern construction technology.

Flat Pack and Containerized Units

This modular build (prefabricated) system is ideal for temporary or immediately required housing. A key advantage of the prefabricated system is speed of installation. Our buildings can be constructed with a locally trained workforce, making it ideal for remote locations. The completed structures require little maintenance, helping to keep costs low during the lives of temporary buildings.
